Meeting with Elected Officials

CAIR-CT regularly meets with local, state, and federal elected officials to advocate for issues that matter most to the Muslim community. From addressing domestic concerns like combating Islamophobia and protecting civil liberties to advocating for justice and human rights in international contexts, these meetings are vital in influencing policies and fostering understanding.

Lobby Day on Capitol Hill

One of our most impactful initiatives is the annual Lobby Day on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. This event brings together college students from across Connecticut, sponsored by their local mosques, to engage directly with lawmakers. Students gain invaluable experience as they:

• Advocate for Issues: Discuss critical domestic and international policies impacting the Muslim community.
• Build Relationships: Network with lawmakers and their staff to foster long-term connections.
• Develop Leadership Skills: Learn the importance of civic participation and how to effectively champion their beliefs.
